Commenting on Qatar’s decision to raise its reconstruction grant for Gaza to $400 million, Omar Shaban tells Al-Resalah that the grant will ease unemployment and, by his estimate, directly create more than 30,000 jobs, with a quick and strong effect because it is disbursed immediately, boosting sectors such as transport, roads and infrastructure. He cautions that it will not end the blockade, which Israel imposed and alone can lift, urges other Arab states to honour their own pledges, and calls on the Palestinian government to partner with economic sectors and consult experts in managing the grant.
