The Youth Forum for Tolerance at PalThink for Strategic Studies organized a volunteer day to help farmers with the olive harvest in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, with the participation of more than 20 young men and women from the Youth Forum’s members.
Omar Shaban, Director of PalThink, welcomed the participants, praising their efforts on the volunteer day,
noting that the initiative aims to strengthen and instill the spirit of volunteer work among youth and to highlight the importance of volunteering by integrating young people with the local community and making them an active element.
He explained that the Youth Forum seeks, through organizing such activities, to restore recognition to the concept of volunteer work because it constitutes a social value and affirms the importance of the role of youth.
Shaban pointed out that olive trees carry invaluable religious and civilizational meanings, in addition to their significant contribution to local income.
At the end of the volunteer day, the farmers expressed their happiness, extending sincere thanks to the members of the Youth Forum for the efforts they made in helping farmers during the olive harvest season, and expressing the hope that in coming years the season will receive broader Palestinian attention through the repetition of such activities that assist farmers and ease their burdens in light of the difficult economic conditions.
This activity comes within a series of community activities carried out by the Forum, through which it aims to strengthen the role of youth in social, political, and cultural participation, leading to the promotion of community reconciliation and shedding light on a range of issues and values that serve our Palestinian society in its broad sense, leading to a society that respects and values youth and believes in their energy and vitality, ultimately leading to sustainable development.
