The Family Care Society, in partnership with PalThink for Strategic Studies, organized an award ceremony honoring the winners of the "Short Mobile Films 2017" competition as part of the initiative "The Homeland Endures Through Your Unity," which comes within the project of enhancing the role of civil society organizations in achieving Palestinian unity, this Sunday at the Press House - Palestine headquarters.
Bassam Manasra, Director General of the Family Care Society, affirmed that the initiative "The Homeland Endures Through Your Unity" comes in harmony with the Society’s objectives, especially as we are witnessing an atmosphere of Palestinian reconciliation and a state of ending the division, of which the Palestinian family is considered the first and greatest victim.
Manasra said: "We launched this initiative and participated strongly in this project to protect the Palestinian family and its rights, and our vision was embodied in the necessity of working to strengthen Palestinian reconciliation," noting that this role is entrusted to all civil society institutions throughout Palestine.
For his part, Omar Shaban, Chairman of the Board of Directors of PalThink for Strategic Studies, stressed enhancing the role of civil society organizations in reconciliation, which requires that it be between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, pointing to the need for the people of the West Bank and Gaza to feel that they are one people and one homeland.
Shaban added: "We worked on some issues that contributed to rationalizing political decision-making, and we distinguished ourselves through our work with Palestinian civil society in both Gaza and the West Bank together."
For his part, journalist Mohammed al-Baz affirmed the role of young Palestinian journalists in meeting the needs and requirements of our people in all fields and in highlighting their aspirations and suffering everywhere.
Al-Baz said: "The challenge undertaken by Palestinian media professionals, despite the occupation’s practices, its attempts to impose a media blackout, and Israeli criticism of our Palestinian media claiming that it is media inciting violence, will not stop as long as the conflict with the occupation remains."
He added: "This competition and the titles it addressed are but one form of challenge to attempts to fragment our Palestinian body, and they are an image of confronting and rejecting the internal division, which has led to a kind of media chaos."
For his part, journalist Saad Karim, head of the judging panel, congratulated all the winners, thanking the spirit of initiative firmly rooted in the minds of Palestinian youth.
He announced the names of the winners in the top three places:
First place: the young woman Ne’ma Wadi for her film "With Our Unity We Overcome Obstacles"
Second place: the young man Tamer Najm for his film "When You Believe"
Third place: the young man Shaaban Adas for his film "The Arrow of Salvation"
