He pointed out that the Israeli army’s latest bombardment of the Gaza Strip, which claimed the lives of 100 people, was based on unsubstantiated allegations of the presence of military personnel in the area, and that the war has killed more than 40,000 civilians, including women and children, while those remaining of Gaza’s people are "on death lists."
Shaban added that "neither the American pressures, nor the disagreements within the war coalition, nor the demonstrations in support of Palestine, nor the European positions, nor the United Nations and the Arab League have been able to affect the pace of the war by even an iota. Shaban explained that he is betting on the U.S. administration and the elections, whose pace has begun to intensify, to make an impact, noting that the Egyptian-Qatari-American trilateral statement is different from what came before, but that the will for war in the Israeli government is still strong and growing every day.
He continued: "When people go out every day by the thousands into the streets of the Gaza Strip carrying the white flag and slogans demanding an end to the war, their going out in this way confirms that they are not with the war," stressing that official efforts alone are not enough.
