On 16 July 2025 the Middle East Institute held an on-the-record webinar on the prospects for ending the war in Gaza, as the conflict entered its 22nd month and President Donald Trump pressed for a ceasefire. Omar Shaban, founder and director of PalThink for Strategic Studies, joined Nimrod Novik of the Israel Policy Forum on a panel moderated by MEI senior fellow Brian Katulis. The panel examined possible endgame scenarios in Gaza, the dire humanitarian situation, the role the United States and its regional partners could play in resolving the wider Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and how the shifts that followed the Israel–Iran war might reshape the path to peace.
