This is the largest Palestinian exodus since 1948: 1.8 million Gazans, or 80% of the population, have been displaced by Israel’s strikes on the coastal strip, UNRWA announced on Wednesday. In extreme conditions, hundreds of thousands of civilians have crowded into the south, in an ever more constricted perimeter near a closed Egyptian border. The strikes, which have so far killed 16,248 people, including 70% women and minors, according to the Ministry of Health under Hamas, are now hitting Khan Younis, where the house of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar has been surrounded. In the north, operations are also continuing, with the Israeli army announcing on Wednesday that it had seized a cache containing hundreds of weapons and munitions.
