Omar Shaban Ismail · Economic Freedom of the World Annual Conference, Turin · 2011
Slides he presented for PalThink to the Economic Freedom of the World annual conference in Turin in October 2011. They set out the territories' political timeline and the Gaza blockade, trade before and after the siege, the tunnel economy and West Bank checkpoints, then take economic freedom area by area — business, trade and investment, government spending (about 52% of GDP), property rights, money (no currency of its own), taxes and labour — and end on the constraints of Israeli control over borders, crossings and customs revenue.
