PalThink for Strategic Studies held a series of weekly sessions, moderated by its founder and director Omar Shaban, on the need to hold the Palestinian legislative elections due at the end of November 2026 and on forming new political and social movements, with participants from the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and the diaspora. The third session hosted electoral-systems expert Dr Talib Awad, who explained the rules of the vote under Election Law No. 1 of 2007: full proportional representation in a single constituency, a 1% threshold and a candidacy age lowered from 28 to 23; participants called for younger leadership and for lists including young people, women and independents. Closing the series, Shaban said PalThink would continue these discussions to raise awareness of the importance of holding legislative and presidential elections, an initiative it is carrying out without funding from any party.
